Support Opportunities

Business to Business

Looking for business to underwrite business’ in Africa.

·      We will be identifying partners who have demonstrated a desire to provide services aligned with the mission vision and values of Food+Water+Shelter.

·      These partners will provide a comprehensive business plan. The plan should have information on nature of business, SWOT analysis, projected revenue and expenditure, etc.

·      We will look for business to invest in the startup funding for the new business. We will look for both full and partial investors in a similar manner as any new startup would. The main difference is that the investors will have no return in their money financially. It is intended to set up individuals to provide for their finances independently to allow their support of the needy to go further.

·      Investors will be introduced by email and / or social media and encouraged to speak freely to one another about the status of the business.

·      Monthly reports will be sent to Food+Water+Shelter showing the most recent financials and operations. This is done for both accountability and potential mentorship opportunities.

Monthly Contributions

These are opportunities for us to take care of immediate needs for food, water, or shelter.

·      Baby formula - a container of formula cost roughly $3.75 US and will last for   4-5 Days. Most babies will need to have 6-8 Containers Per month.

·      Plumpynut - this is a vitamin packed nutritional supplement given to slightly older kids to help them beat the effects of Malawi nutrition.  Kids will need 1-3 packets a day depending on severity of Malnutrition. Each case cost $50 US and has 150 packets.

·      Well repair - often times the cost to repair a broken well is minimal. Each component is relatively inexpensive. However the villagers typically live in such poverty that there is no way to afford the parts for the repair. Most repairs cost between $20 - $50 US.

·      Seed and fertilizer- most of Malawi is supported through agriculture. Providing seed and fertilizer can allow a family to provide for themselves.  A bag or seed cost $ US and can plant. A bag of fertilizer cost $ US and covers.

·      Orphan support - there are orphans all throughout Africa in need of support. These children can be in the care of other family members, children’s homes, foster homes and orphanages.

·      Medical - medicines and medical support is typically too expensive for villagers. Often just a few dollars can provide life saving treatments

·      School tuition - all schools require a tuition is paid. This means that many children in families who can’t afford it do not get any formal education.

Large Projects

These are larger projects that will require more fundraising and planning to accomplish.

·      Village family home - These homes are made from fire brick with thatch or metal roofs. A typical home can be built for $2,000 - $3,000 US.

·      Village school - Education in the villages can be particularly hard to find. A school has to be within a reasonable walking distance to a village.

·      Chicken house - A chicken house can change a community. It offers both food and income. For around $7,000 US, a chicken house holding 200 chickens can be built and filled with chickens.

·      Children’s home - Often times families fall upon hard times and are not able to care for their infants. Usually a mother dies during childbirth and there is no way to feed the baby. Children’s homes are a place these kids can get the care and support they need. Their goals are to reunite the families again after the child is well enough and strong enough to go back.

·      Orphanage – Many of the orphanages are run by volunteers and funded by community donations.  It is very often that the living conditions are poor and the children are in need of the basics.

·      Special needs home- People with disabilities are often considered outcast there are many.

·      Vehicles – Transportation is a critical aspect to supporting those in the rural communities and villages.

·      Surgeries - Often times a minor surgery can solve a problem but there is not the funds available.  Other time the situation is more of a life or death situation.

·      Shipping container – We have a vision of outfitting a container to be a self-sustaining structure able to be used as a clinic, school, home, etc.  We would love to fill the container with supplies and after it is emptied it could be placed and used in the community.
